A beautiful, cool, and silent sanctuary
Located at the Jigenin Temple in Takasaki city at the foot of the giant white bodhisattva is the Dokutsukannon or, the cave of bodhisattva. The cave is 400 meters long and enshrines 39 Kannon statues. When entering the tunnel, one will experience a cool breeze and will feel as if they are entering a new world. The atmosphere inside is very dim and quiet with the kannon statues all lit up looking solemn giving the visitor a strong spiritual feeling. Just next to Dokutsukannon is Tokumeien, the most famous Japanese garden of the Kanto region displaying beautiful scenery with seasonal foliage.
