The Kannon (Bodhisattva) mercifully watches over the city of Takasaki
Located at the Jigenin Temple in Takasaki city is an extremely large Kannon wearing a white coat that looks as if it is watching over the city.
Constructed in 1936, this 41.8-meter statue was built by an industrialist named Yasusaburo Inoue and consists of 9 floors, housing 20 statues of Buddha and high priests’. The Jigenin Temple is famous for it’s cherry blossoms and seasonal foliage and is a very peaceful place to relax.
