Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the town.

Yanaka Ginza shopping district is located within 5 minutes from Nippori Station. The entrance to the street is called “Yuyake dan dan” literally meaning “Sunset stairs,” because of it’s popularity for beautiful sunsets. This street was established in 1945 in a spontaneous manner, and there are more than 70 different shops lined up along the street.

The best place to buy Japanese souvenirs.

There are old traditional handmade crafts that are arranged with a bit of modern Japanese taste. These are some of the best gifts for your friends. You can also eat many different foods and delicious sweets ‘on the go’ while shopping.

The trademark here are the Cats

Once you enter the shopping street, you’ll see cats sleeping and relaxing. If you look at the shop’s signboards, you’ll find feline statues or feline related images that resemble real cats. Finding “hidden cats” is also a part of the fun. As we had previously introduced, this area is also where the Yanaka cemetery and Nezu Shrine are located. These are great areas for taking a walk. If you are going to stay in Tokyo, you should plan to spend half a day visiting these areas.
