This vending machine can even decipher your demographic! Acure has new revolutionary functions!
It’s already famous among foreign visitors that Japan has many types of vending machines, but Acure has caused a continuous “Wow!” About 7,900 Acure vending machines are installed in the stations of JR-East and most of them accept transportation electronic money such as suica and pasmo for purchases. Many people will be surprised at the high-resolution touch panel display and this futuristic vending machine has even more that will surprise you. It’s digital signage (electronic advertisement) shows the best products, calculated by considering the season and temperature, and can even interpret your age and recommend the best beverages according to your demographic! It’s a bit creepy!
It’s actually easy to use! Let’s buy a beverage from it!
Tadaima Japan Editorial team went to the PR event for Acure, where they were promoting the convenience of the vending machine to the foreign visitors and explaining how to use it. We had interviewed the person from JR-East and they said that foreign visitors often don’t know how to use the vending machine, so they decided to have this PR event. There were cute girls in Kimono and Ninjas who were explaining to foreign customers how to use it in both English and Chinese. After that, people were enjoying getting pictures with the girls and Ninjas and received a Japanese fan that had a picture on it explaining how to use Acure. I believe it was a good souvenir for foreign visitors!
”It’s so refreshing to see that soup is sold in vending machines!”
One of the Acure’s initiatives is that they’ve attached English, Korean, and Chinese translations on each beverage. They haven’t been installed on the electronic touch panel, but are available on the general vending machines in JR-East stations. We interviewed a guy from Korea who actually bought a drink from it and he said, “It’s so refreshing to see that soups are sold on vending machines, because I’ve never seen it in Korea! I think it’s very kind that these are available in Korean!” A guy from China said, “I am interested in this vending machine, because we don’t have these kinds of things.” It seems many people are interested in this futuristic vending machine. JR-East announced that they are going to make more ‘foreigner-friendly’ vending machines. From February 19th, they are planning to add 200 more Acure vending machines. Don’t miss Acure’s trends in the future!
