Don’t forget to buy a Matcha (green tea) ticket at the entrance

You’ll need to pay 200 yen to see Houkokuji Temple’s highlight, the bamboo garden. There is a tearoom in the temple where you can enjoy Matcha for 500 yen. You need to buy a ticket for it, so please don’t forget to buy one when visiting. Matcha is one thing you should try in Japan, and drinking Matcha on the terrace with the beautiful scenery of the garden might make you feel like your cleansing your heart.

Casually enjoy Matcha with cute confectionary

At a formal tea ceremony there are strict rules such as, drinking tea within 3 sips, or even having a pre-set time of eating confectionary, but here you can enjoy Matcha more casually. Please enjoy your Matcha just as you like. On weekends it is often crowded, so try to visit on a weekday and have a relaxing time.
