From Ryukyu Kingdom to this day: The sanctuary “Tamagusuku Castle” ruins

The Tamagusuku Castle was constructed upon a natural fortress, at the altitude of 1800 meters. When you go up the steep stairs, there is a round shaped castle gate hollowed out from limestone. From here, you can enjoy the outlook of Hisataka island and south-central part of main island of Okinawa. It is renowned as one of the places to go to worship the pilgrimage called, “Agariumai”, which is a continuing ritual from Ryukyu era to this day.
