The traditional hotel, Iwaso solemnly stands in Miyajima.

We, the Tadaima Japan editorial team have stayed at this Ryokan (hotel).
It’s about a 3 minute walk from Itsukushima-jinja Shrine. This traditional hotel has received good reviews from people all over the world. I could see the spirit of “Omotenashi”, or service, every where at this hotel. We really had a good time here relaxing, where time moves very slow.

Iwaso’s landlady

The comfortable atmosphere that she creates is something special.

This is Tamaki Iwamura, the landlady at Iwaso. There is no exact definition of what Omotenashi is, but I felt Japan’s, ‘spirit of caring’ from her. It felt so nice when I talked to her. She creates a comfortable atmosphere that relaxes people.

The other staff members also specialize in Omotenashi. I feel this hotel is first-class, just from their service alone.

Everything has heart.

The carefully made cuisine and the selection of dishware are something special. I feel that everything in this hotel has heart; the comfortable rooms, neatly cleaned floors, the seasonal flowers, the relaxing onsen, and even the limousine bus that brought us to the hotel.

What they offer to foreign visitors.

They treat foreign visitors just like Japanese customers.
Everyone sleeps on futons, not in beds. The dinner is Kaiseki-ryori. If you prefer, they can change it to Western food or even to a vegetarian dish, but they always recommend you try their seasonal Kaiski-ryori. Because you chose Iwaso over the many other hotels of Miyajima, they like to offer you first-class services.

They’ll help you out with anything you might need! For those who are traveling to Japan for the first time, it might be difficult because of the language and culture. At Iwaso, they try to alleviate those issues and help you out with travel plans, and they’ll even book your next hotel for you.

Itsukushima Shrine at night

Itsukushima-jinja Shrine and Momiji-dani are so close to Iwaso.

Its about a 3-minute walk from Iwaso. You can come here as much as you want during your stay. We went to Itsukushima Shrine at night and loved it! Going there early in the morning was very calm and very nice.
Momiji-dani Park is also located in front of it! You can enjoy the green scenery in springtime and the colorful foliage of autumn. This Japanese ryokan is very popular, so book your stay early!
