Kawagoe’s appeal is its warehouse style architecture!
Many of you have heard the word “edo”. As you know it refers to a period between 1603〜1868 in Japan and it used to be the current Tokyo. A town that preserves characteristics from the edo period is referred to as “koedo” and one such place is Kawagoe city in Saitama Prefecture. Kawagoe city is the third largest city with an abundance of this cultural property and its appeal is the warehouse style architecture. Japanese people always enjoy the dark exteriors and tiled roofing of this architectural style. The tower bell that still works to this day, has been in use for over 100 years and is something you should check out.

This is a temple called “Kita-in”. You can buy Ema (plaques) that have anime characters on them. Hie shrine looks just like the one that appeared in the anime, so it’s also worth the visit.
After walking around the town, why not take a break here at café Kasuga? It also appeared in the anime, so having a cup of coffee here is sentimental for those who love Kamisama Kiss. Kawagoe is full of history and has so much to see. It’ll be more unforgettable if you tour the city while looking for featured locations in the anime.
