Have more fun in Jimbocho, the town for second hand books!

TJ writer, Natsuki recommends places in the ever-changing city of Tokyo from her point of view. This time, she introduces Jimbocho, a town with old coffee shops and book stores. This town is very ‘hip’ with many young, offbeat people. There’s also a very cool coffee shop where you can relax.

GLITH COFFEE & ROASTERS

This café just opened in April of 2015. Its atmosphere is open to the street through its large glass windows. It’s the best place to meet and talk with your friends, and the large coffee roaster in the shop is very popular with its customers.

The shop’s exterior

The best meeting place

It’s easy to find, even for those who’ve never been here before, because it’s located right on the street. The warm incandescent lighting draws you to the shop and you’ll smile at the nice smell of coffee.

 Inside the shop

 Inside the shop

The impressive coffee roaster is a must see.

All the coffee is dripped using paper filters. The beans are roasted with PRPBAT’s roaster, imported from Germany. They roast their coffee based on data that they collect, and share their technique all over the world. The owner of the cafe is an AeroPress (JAC2014) champion and is highly qualified in the art of roasting coffee.

Iced coffee

The deep taste of coffee

I ordered iced coffee at the counter. It tastes so deep and clear. You can also order scones, biscotti, and light snacks as well.

Original mug

The cool and original mug

This mug represents the pride they take in offering some of the best coffee around. They hope that everyone can taste the deep flavor of their coffee and enjoy a moment here.

Inside the shop

The friendly owner

While I was having coffee, a customer was asking the owner about coffee. He was explaining it in such detail, that I felt as if he was some sort of ‘professor of coffee’.

Jazz music is played inside, and somehow it reminds me of Brooklyn, NY. This café is easy to stop by, even if you’re alone. WiFi is also available.

You can buy coffee beans and order coffee for take out. I recommend this café to those who want to taste real coffee, at Jimbocho!
