The local dish loved by the people: Yoshida Udon
Yoshida Udon is eaten in the eastern area of Yamanashi prefecture and in the Gunnai area. The udon is known for its nice texture derived from the water of Mt. Fuji used in the production process. The meat, boiled vegetables, and the miso and shoyu soup brings a taste that is different from other udon dishes.

We visited Menkyo Kaiden, and tried their soft and chewy Yoshida Udon. Even though it is nice to choose your own toppings, we recommend trying out the “Hungry Udon” dish. The cabbage and fried tofu is soaked in beef broth, and the green onions and fried chikuwa are also very delicious. We now know why they call it the “Hungry Udon”. The special broth is made using shoyu and miso. The soft and chewy Yoshida Udon is very pleasant to eat, and will make you want a second helping.
Menkyo Kaiden restaurant is recommended by the locals. Their parking was completely full before the store even opened.
The smiles from the store owner and staff are also what makes the udon taste so good. They leave a good impression on you, even if they are crazy busy! You are sure to want to come back again.
