What’s Your Blood Type?

Do you believe in horoscopes, tarot cards, or palm reading? Every culture has its own way of fortune telling or describing personality traits. Back in middle school, I was deeply interested in horoscopes and often tried to match my friends’ personality traits to their signs.

Being in Japan, I’m often asked by friends, colleagues, and even new aquaintances “what’s your blood type?” In Japan, some people believe that each blood type has specific personality traits! Do you know your blood type? Does it match your personality?

People with type O blood are romantic, innocent, and always chasing after their ideals. They tend to have an appreciation for nature and animals and are easily moved by other people’s feelings. They can form good relationships with almost anyone and feel the need to look after others. They are clear about their own feelings but because of this, they tend to be cold to those they don’t care about.

People with type B blood usually go with the flow and do things at their own pace. Their actions are also dependent on their ever changing mood. They are creative and organized but sometimes get lost in the process. Even though they’re positive and easy to talk to, they are sometimes misunderstood by others.

I guess being first in the alphabet might also relate to this, but people with type A blood are known to be competitive. They want to excel in the task at hand. They are a bit introverted and get embarrassed easily. They are strict with high expectations for not only themselves, but also for others.

Lastly, people with type AB blood have a wide range of hobbies. They like to try new things and can maintain good relationships with others. They are not good at expressing their feelings and find it difficult to do something they’re not passionate about. Finding a job they can enjoy is very important!

Are you a believer?

So, do you agree with these descriptions?
If you ask me, I think that many horoscope books or tarot readings use vague descriptions so that it is relatable to most people. The more we know about ourselves, the easier it is for us to apply each description to our personal situation and think “ah, that is just like me!” Don’t you agree? ^^
