2017-04-21   Festivals & Events, Hokkaido,

It’s good for overnight tourists who want to enjoy Japanese culture into the late night.

Sapporo city, located in the northern island of Hokkaido, is very popular with not only Japanese tourists, but also foreign tourists. We usually take in the beautiful scenery and delicious foods during the daytime, but some people also want to make the most of their time by enjoy similar nighttime activities. “Wafugeino,” Japanese cultural entertainment for night owls will start on October 7th 2014 in Sapporo.

The concept is the Japanese culture of “Omotenashi”. More than 5 programs will be performed for 70 minutes and include Japanese dance and “Kyogen”.

“Wafugeino,” the traditional entertainment show, starts at 8 pm and includes over 5 programs, such as “Noh,” “kyogen,” “Bunraku,” “Gagaku,” “kagura”, “Japanese Dance,” “Ryukyu Dance,” and “folk music of the Ainu” (programs are subject to change). “Wafugeino” allows you to enjoy many different parts of Japanese culture in one short event.

It’s okay if you don’t understand Japanese… Just have fun!

As these programs basically don’t use any language, so everyone can enjoy them! You don’t need specific knowledge for them either. How about taking in some Japanese culture after dinner if you have the opportunity to visit Sapporo?
