Why not hike up the mountain after visiting Mitsumine Shrine?
We had previously introduced the Mitsumine Shrine in Chichibu. If you have time, we recommend that you to go deeper in the mountain and visit the rearmost shrine at the top of Myohoga-dake peak (elev. 1329 meters).
As you hike along the route leading to Mt. Kumotoriyama you’ll see souvenir shops. After passing the avenue of cedars, you’ll see the first gateway (Torii). Your hiking will start from that point on.
The further you ascend, the more energy you’ll feel.
It takes about 1 hour to get to the rearmost shrine, so you should be prepared for good hike. This holy atmosphere that these trees create is the main attraction. It feels as if a mysterious energy embraces us with the power becoming stronger as you go up the mountain.
Colorful plants are everywhere on the mountain path.
These pictures were taken on a rainy autumn day and Myohoga-dake is wet all year round. There are lots of unusual mushrooms, plants, and insects everywhere… even during winter! You can definitely feel Japan’s abundant ecosystem here. We recommend that you slowly ascend, taking in the scenery so that you have a chance to make new discoveries.
