Asakusa is a popular destination for foreign tourists, because of its traditional Japanese culture. Nagoya’s samurai show was exceptionally held in Tokyo, Asakusa so we went to see them. Their performance was very impressive and I almost forgot to take pictures during the show.
The Samurai show!
Once the samurai dressed in armor appeared on stage, the audience got very excited! At first, all the actors appeared on stage engaging in sword battle. The audience clapped energetically, cheering them up. There were many foreigners in attendance and the story is told in both Japanese and English, so it’s even easy for English speakers to understand.
The Audience also joined in on stage!
Next, the audience got on stage and experienced Ninjutsu sword battle and played with a Geiko. It looked a bit difficult doing it, but everyone looked like they were having fun! It made me so happy to see people of all ages participating in traditional Japanese culture.
In the end, we sang a song with the Bushotai group and the stage curtains closed.

The tourists looked like they were having fun, taking part in sword battle!
We interviewed two tourists from Australia. They came to Japan to celebrate their graduation. They were interested in Manga (especially Dragon Ball), Naruto, and Attack on Titan. They told us that they also visited J world and the Pokemon center. They said that they also enjoyed many Japanese foods including chicken karage, Ramen, Asahi beer, sake, and Yamazaki whiskey!
They talked to us about the show and said that they really enjoyed the workshop for the sword battle and dancing. They sure know how to pose.

Even though you can’t see Samurai and Ninja on the streets, you can sense it.
Ninja and Samurai are very important to the history of Japan. The core spirit of the Japanese is often inherited from their cultures. Old Shrines and temples are great places where you can experience and feel this spirit.
